Queer Friday
A class for 2SLGBTQIA+++ folx. Neurodivergent Queer and Trans beings are very welcome in this space.
We gather on the Fourth Friday of the month:
Next Dates: June 28th, July 26th, August 23rd, 6:30 - 8pm
Rate: $25 per class (sliding scale available at the door)
Where: at 1525 Begbie, the Dance Hall (at St. Barnabus Church Hall - note, there is no religious paraphernalia in the hall)
This is a community movement playshop. We arrive with music, and a time to warm up the body, followed by an opening and a playful somatic movement inquiry. We’ll then dive into a movement passage together, playing with the inquiry through a mixture of solitudes, dyads, triads, and community scores.
Spacious and focused, daring and relaxing, time for learning somatic embodied methods that support aliveness and ease, and time for spacious pleasure and practice together. Currents of movement rippling through the room like wind through the trees.
There is no previous experience necessary. There are no steps to learn; this class rests into the creative life force that flows within all living beings. Come be you as you are, in motion and stillness, in a welcoming group of beings.
This space has no stairs to navigate into the dance hall or into bathrooms. The lighting is soft, there is natural light through the windows, and the doors open for good ventilation. The floor is supportive for bodies moving.
Please do not come if you are sick. Consider testing for covid before coming to class as an act of community care. Masks are optional, physical distancing is fine. There will be no requirement to be in close proximity with other movers. Let’s offer our consideration and attunement to one another’s proximity needs.
We dance on a soft-on-the-body-marley dance floor - which means that only bare feet or soft-soled indoor dance shoes can be worn on the dance floor.
Please note this is a sober & scent free space.
